The Bay of Douarnenez
The Bay of Douarnenez is a real inland sea, stretching for 20 km between the Crozon peninsula and Cap Sizun. Discover the bay's beautiful beaches in Telgruc-sur-Mer, Plomodiern, Sainte-Anne-la-Palud, Plonévez-Porzay and, of course, Douarnenez.
Every summer, the bay becomes the scene of major maritime festivals and regattas of old sailing ships. Numerous fishing boats and pleasure craft criss-cross this vast expanse of sea, offering visitors a spectacle like no other.
Away from the hustle and bustle of the intense maritime activity, the coastal path invites you to discover a variety of landscapes, including steep cliffs, archaeological sites, old wash-houses and traditional houses.
The bay is also where the town of Ys is said to have sunk according to the famous legend, inspiring many writers and storytellers.
